What is the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix?
The Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix is a round of the FIA Formula One World Championship held at the Hungaroring in Mogyoród, about 20 km northeast of central Budapest. On the calendar since 1986, it is traditionally the last race before F1's summer break, held in late July on a tight, twisty 4.4 km circuit often compared to a street track.

Why book Closer for this event
Vienna is a natural base for the Hungarian GP: direct long-haul flights into VIE, five-star hotels, and a motorway run of about two hours to the circuit. Closer handles the cross-border leg door-to-door — no train changes, no rental car, no circuit parking stress — with return transfers after the race or a Budapest hotel drop-off.

Transfer from Vienna to the Hungaroring
The Hungaroring is roughly 230 km from central Vienna — about 2 hours 15 minutes via the A4 and Hungarian M1, passing Budapest to the northeast. There are no border checks under Schengen, but race-day traffic around Mogyoród is heavy: for a Sunday afternoon start we recommend leaving Vienna in the morning. Combined itineraries — race day plus a Budapest evening or overnight — are easy to arrange.
VIP & hospitality transport for the Hungarian GP
Multi-day programmes across the race weekend: VIE airport arrivals, Vienna or Budapest hotel shuttles, hospitality transfers to the circuit, and late returns. One chauffeur, both countries, per-vehicle pricing.
Frequently asked questions
When is the next Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix?
The Hungarian Grand Prix is held at the Hungaroring every year in late July or early August. The 2026 edition runs July 24–26; 2027 dates will be added once the FIA confirms the calendar.
How long is the drive from Vienna to the Hungaroring?
About 2 hours 15 minutes for roughly 230 km via the A4 and M1 motorways. Allow extra time on race day for circuit-area traffic.
Can you drive from Vienna to Budapest for the race and back the same day?
Yes — a same-day return is comfortable with a morning departure. Many guests combine the race with dinner in Budapest before returning to Vienna, or stay overnight and return the next day.
Are there border formalities between Austria and Hungary?
Both countries are in the Schengen area, so there are normally no border checks. Bring your passport or ID card; your chauffeur handles the Hungarian motorway vignette.
Can you pick up in Budapest instead of Vienna?
Yes. We also cover Budapest hotel pickups to the Hungaroring, and one-way transfers between Vienna and Budapest around the race weekend.
